One of my favourite brands is the iconic British Luxury brand Burberry. From developing outdoor attire in 1880 to being commissioned to the War Office to produce “the trench coat” in 1914 then defining the Burberry “check” as their iconic signature - Burberry today is now a luxury fashion house of attire, accessories and perfume. But I’ll get to the sunglass side later…

David Jones have recently introduced “Burberry Beauty” in Australia - the new make up range, to help bring your inner heritage fashionista to life. I recently tested their foundation with amazing results, a light, silky, natural finish yet completely covers imperfections. Their powders are so sheer, it actually feels like you aren’t wearing any!

Burberry have released a series of YouTube videos to guide you into the world of the Burberry look. You’ve seen their campaign photography, so classic and natural - I’m sure at some point that everyone has stared at the likes of the Burberry women like Emma Watson, Jourdan Dunn and newest face; Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and felt the glow of their faces. Well, now it’s your turn!

The video above is presented by Burberry Beauty Artistic Consultant Wendy Rowe and is so far one of my favourite looks - perfect for those “less is more” days for effortless beauty!

If you have a chance to come by Bondi Junction, Australia - our Director of Buying Stewart Waltron has been featured in a quick little summary for the new season trends in the latest Westfield Shine magazine. He has some great tips for anyone who needs inspiration for new sunglasses for spring/summer 2011: “IN THE FRAME”No longer purely functional, sunglasses are a bona fide fashion accessory. We got the lowdown on the brands and styles to look for from Sunglass Hut Director of buying Stewart Waltron.Colour is a big trend this season. Will we see it in Sunglasses, too?Yes, colour aswell as pattern. D&G has some cute and playful vichy checked styles from it’s “Garden Party” collection. Floral prints are also big this year.Which new brands are you excited about? We are really excited about what’s happening with Miu Miu sunglasses at the moment. The new range is full of items that are going to be snapped up by fashionistas. We think it’s going to be huge for 2012! What classic style do you find yourself returning to?I’m a Ray-Ban aviator nut - everyone should own at least one pair. Any style that can still be number one in the world today, while remaining essentially unchanged since the 30’s, is the definition of classic.Do you have any guidelines for choosing the perfect shape? The most basic rule of thumb I can give is this: choose a pair that is a different shape to your face. So if you have a round face, choose something squared or more angular. If you have square or chiselled features, something a little more rounded will soften your appearance. Remember though, rules are made of be broken, so if it looks good, do it!The Top 3 - Stewart picks the hottest trends in shadesLace at Dolce & Gabbana“This is a great example of how designers can translate the catwalk into the sun category. The lace used from the Dolce “Sicilian Sensuality” catwalk show has been stretched over acetate and sealed into each individual pair of sunglasses”Brights at Burberry“Burberry’s amazing folding Wayfarers in super-bright colours are perfect for those who want to rock a slightly more androgynous look”Feminine at Versace“For those who love femininity, I’d recommend the Versace ‘January J’ collection, inspired by actress Janurary Jones.”- T xo

How do you go nude without taking your clothes off? Burberry has your answer!Nudes and light tan colourings have been harmonized with the Burberry label since the luxury fashion house beginnings. And for AW 2011 (Now SS 2011 for us Aussies!) Burberry have released the “Nude” collection of coats, hand bags, shoes and my favourite; sunglasses*! The collection is based on skin colour and some swinging 60’s inspired frames.

If you are a bit shy on bold colours, nude tones contrasted with white, black or grey outfits are an easier colour statement as it’s a neutral tone and more subtle on the eyes!- T xo *Selected styles coming soon to Sunglass Hut Australia

“I fell in love with the boy at the Burberry show“… On May 4th, Burberry launched their new Spring/Summer 2012 eyewear at an intimate indie rock show at their Sydney, Australia store.Celebrating English talent, Burberry Creative Director Christopher Bailey selected four British music acts to present their Spring/Summer 2012 eyewear collection with exclusive tracks by each for the campaign. Each band was filmed wearing the new Burberry aviators! And to launch it around the world, each band performed at a Burberry store over a series of days in New York, Paris and Sydney. For the Sydney launch, we were treated to London band Life in Film. Part of the Burberry Acoustic sessions and one of the faces of the new Burberry aviator, their catchy riffs could remind you of The Smiths, Joy Division, The Strokes… the list goes on; a bit of punk, a bit of rock, a bit of new wave. Watching them play at the Burberry store was a short but sweet experience. Guitars to sway and dance to between rows of amazing handbags and clothing!
Here are some photos from the event!
